Something that’s always bothered me from a young age is that everyone has this innate fear of failure. Not just fear though. It’s deeper than that. There’s this sense of emotional guilt around making mistakes.

Think about this. From a young age we’ve been conditioned to look past mistakes. Ignore them completely. Remember your schooldays? You make a mistake, the class laughs, you feel this sense of guilt as a result and suddenly you never want to make a misstep again. That feeling sticks with you.

But this is leverage. This is actually where the edge comes from.

90% of people only want to look at success. The hero’s story. The times when everything went well. But this gives you hidden variance and it makes you avoid using failure as training data. And because of this you lose. But you could win

By losing the battle to win the war. The thing is, most people don’t see the value
